Robert Crimo Doesn't Exist

On March 3, 2025, Robert Crimo III pleaded guilty to perpetrating a 2023 mass shooting in Highland Park, IL… And no one has seen or heard from him since. Bobby is missing.

July 4, 2022, Highland Park, IL – Robert Crimo, who went by Bobby, made a tragic decision that would turn the lives of many people upside down. That day, at a 4^th of July parade in his hometown, Bobby climbed to the top of a roof along the parade route and emptied 3 magazines out of an AR-15 into the peaceful crowd below, claiming the lives of 7 innocent victims and injuring dozens of others.

I was investigating this particular shooting from Day 1. I spent my 4^th of July holiday that year frantically archiving his online footprint with a small crew of online friends who were also interested in documenting and researching the seemingly endless crop of mass shooters. One of the first accounts we found of Bobby’s was a Twitter account with the handle @b74776838. The name on the account was Robert crimo doesn’t exist.
